Listen
Stop just past the house steps on your left:
66 E Main St,
William Werner House, 1762. This private home was once the residence of the town cooper, bleeder and tooth drawer. A rear addition and two front dormers were added in 1849. Served as Lititz Deposit Bank. The bank safe remains in the kitchen wall. (By 2009 had only sold twice. Mary Agusta Lichtenthaler)
Now look across the street to Lititz Eyecare.
65 E Main St
Christian Hall, 1820. Hall made tall (case clocks) grandfather clocks. Note the archway entry looks like a grandfather clock. He was also the first postmaster in 1806. (Before that, he was the innkeeper of the Zum Anker Inn.)
Also across the street but more to the left.
59 E. Main St.

(That year, John’s son, Abraham, started A.R. Beck School for Boys, 125 S. Broad St.) Public primary education started in Lititz in 1852 and secondary in 1885. Now a private home.
