Welcome to Lititz. My name is Wesley and I’ll be your guide. This tour takes about an hour. You can follow the route on your smart phone or simply listen as I guide you from one sight to the next. (I’ll be giving you clear directions and, with your GPS turned on, the audio will automatically start playing when you get close to the next sight on the tour.)

Lititz is a town of architectural variety, of homes for the wealthy and working class, of community life in its inns, churches, stores and schools. It was founded by Moravians as a closed religious community in the colonial era. When opened to non-Moravians in 1855, local commerce expanded. Soon a railroad line passed through town and growth took off.

Today we’ll explore that history from the first commercial pretzel bakery to a chocolate factory. We’ll view Church Square and an authentic English pub. We’ll talk about this hub of commercial activity through its buildings which looked much as they do today. Along the way we’ll highlight Lititz’ community spirit which keeps it a destination.

Please use the crosswalks. Beware of dips in the sidewalk. To begin our tour, park on East Main Street east of Linden Hall. Walk on the south side of East Main Street towards the High Victorian Gothic chapel with three towers.
